COVER EXPLANATION.—Mountainside in the Willmore Wilderness Park south of Grande Cache, central western Alberta. The thin- and medium-bedded Frasnian Mount Hawk Formation contains two stromatactis-bearing mud-mound reefs. The light-coloured unit above the Mount Hawk Formation is the basal silty Simla Formation, correlative with the subsurface Calmar Formation. The cliff above consists of platform limestones belonging to the Simla Formation. At the very top are platform limestones of the Famennian Palliser Formation.
